Russia and Ukraine fire up, America gets mad at OPEC, and CEOs brace for a mild recession. πŸ”₯

Happy morning, Munchers! πŸ™

Hope you had a banger of a weekend. My gut tells me this week's gonna be fun.

So as always, here is your daily dose of the news that matters, from Wall Street to Dalal Street - in 4 minutes and 50 seconds.

That's less time than it takes for

Let’s dive in.

What’s hot, what’s not?

Story Roundup

It's been two weeks since Russia annexed a few parts of Ukraine.

So they decided to strike back, in a big way.

Ukrainian forces blew up a $3 billion bridge that serves as a critical supply point for Russia.

And it's scary. Here's a video that shows just how big the explosion was.

Russia's clearly angry - and they rained down with full thunder, bombing and shelling as many Ukrainian neighbourhoods as they could.

No winners in a war like this. 😞

America's called OPEC's oil cut "unhelpful and unwise" for the global economy.

The Biden administration has been super loud in their criticism of the decision, partly because they want to see oil prices go down ASAP.

They also raised a little eyebrows about other countries' support of Ukraine in their war - saying that other countries need to "meet their pledges as rapidly as possible".

IMF and the World Bank have their annual meetings next week - which will be headlined by dialogue on high inflation.

Let's see how that goes. πŸ’€

KPMG surveyed about 1,500 CEOs, and the results point to some confidence

About 58% of them expect a mild/moderate outcome for global economies in a supposed incoming recession.

But the guys in charge are certain that a recession is coming.

About 9 in 10 (88%) are sure that one will hit, with about 70% being sure that it'll impact their earnings by more than 10%.

The big boys have issued a weird warning. πŸ€”

WhatsApp's trying to become Snapchat - so you can't screenshot stuff anymore.

In their new update, anything sent with the 'View once' setting can't be screenshotted. Full stop.

This includes both messages and photo/video.

So if you try screenshotting that stuff, you'll end up with a black screen.

Privacy is king. πŸ‘‘

Electricity, water, road, rail, and so much more.

If you visit Modhera in Gujarat, you'll find that it's all solar powered

That's over 5,000 solar panels on 1,300+ rooftops - a pretty stunning achievement which shows the Indian government's steps away from dirty fuel.

They've also allocated about $500 million toward putting solar in every home in India - a pretty welcome change from coal and diesel.

Godspeed. ⚑
